This has been the most impressive PlayStation console for me since the PS1. While now a grown adult, I had the same gleeful expression and excitement as when I first played the PS1 as a teenager!

Yes, the PS5 has amazing graphics, 4KUHD player and almost non existent load times but it’s the controller that is the star of the show. You have to experience the dual-sense haptic feedback yourself to just get a sense of how impressive it is. Included on the PS5 is Astro’s Playroom that acts like a tech demo to showcase the new capabilities of the PS5 controller. While I say tech demo its actually a full on platformer, reminding me of how Ape Escape demoed the capabilities of the PS1 dual shock controller with Astro doing the same for the PS5 controller. Oh yeah and there is Horizon which is an amazing looking open world game just like the original. It does of course support the haptic feedback though not as pronounced as Astro, used for smaller things such as drawing a bow or prying open something.

The package includes the console, stand, controller, USB cable, 2.1 Hdmi cable, power cable and a digital key for the PS5/PS4 Horizon game. It does not come with a headset but the included speaker/microphone on the controller can be used in place of a headset. While the included SSD space is a bit meager, there is an additional M2 slot where a SSD can be added. In operation, the system does push quite a bit of heat so you may want to give some consideration to where you place it. Fortunately it is relatively silent in operation and no where near the noise levels of the original PS4.

As for the cons I think the initial price tag should have been 500 flat with Horizon included but then again games have unfortunately gone up to 70US which is significant. While subjective, the console looks more like some kind of art design concept and will probably stand out in any entertainment center. The stand included can be adjusted to work for both horizontal and vertical orientation. I have it horizontally and it just lies loosely on the stand feeling as though it can easily slide off with a bump. It’s a minor gripe as I have it deep within a shelf of my entertainment center.

It is an impressive piece of hardware and while expensive, once you spend some time using it and experiencing the full capabilities, you will realize that it is amazing that they were able to sell this piece of hardware for the given price point.

As said above, the system itself is fantastic. I like , most of all if you can believe it , is the load times or speed and temperature of the system as it runs. I have a different face plate and stand than the ones it came with and it works SO much better. Check them out , they are available on Amazon as well.

NexiGo PS5 Accessories Horizontal Stand – Black and PS5 Faceplate with Cooling Vent Face Plate Console Cover for Playstation 5 Disc Edition DOBEWINGDELOU – Black. These two changes to the system itself increase so many things for the Ps5 Disc Version.

NOW – The Amazon Invite System. It does work. Do NOT listen to people that claim it doesn’t work . I signed up for the Invite nearly a month back. It did not take but a few days for them to CONFIRM I had an invite ; waiting for an open slot took the longest. You WILL NOT be guaranteed an invite . It even says they can not guarantee and invite for everyone when you sign up in the first place. BE PATIENT. It will take a long time to get a system still; it has been that way for as long as I can remember the system being out. Just remember the above.

11/22/2022 – Several Months later and the system is rolling along with no problems. Run Speed is twice as fast , at least , from the Ps4 . In addition , temp of unit itself compared to running the identical game on Ps4 is huge. The Ps5 is a large console but in that respect things run a lot better than a Ps4. Better construction and operating make the Ps5 work easier and cause less strain on the overall system. In this itself , the price and purchase of the system pays for itself; not having to worry about system burnout . One of the only gripes I have is lack of Storage space that initially comes with a Ps5.
However, that can be fixed with buying an additional drive to fit into the Ps5 itself.

Bought this through Amazon’s invitation together with GTA5 physical disc for the PlayStation 5, and I am overall pleased with the performance of the console. Very fast loading time, suberb graphics, easy navigation of the XMB etc. Although the PlayStation 5 is great, I think Sony could of waited a few more years to launch it since the PlayStation 4 is working remarkably well. The PlayStation 5 can also play most PlayStation 4 games both disc and digital versions.

Time for the complaints: The console is huge, I think Sony could of achieved all the upgrades keeping the console same size as the PlayStation 4 Pro. The design is a dust magnet, although I love the futuristic space-age look of the console, it is practically a dust magnet, so you may want to keep it covered when not in use. Bad launch of the product, Sony didn’t at all executed a smooth launch of the PlayStation 5, leaving a lot of anxious gamers still waiting on the list for the console. 1TB of hard drive space is too little for the demand of space modern games require, but I guess it’s necessary to keep the cost of the unit reasonably priced.

If you’re still waiting to purchase a PlayStation 5, it’s worth getting one.

I will provide an honest assessment of the PS5 based on my own experience, evaluating its design, performance, controller, game library, user interface and features, as well as availability and pricing.

Design and Build Quality – The first thing that struck me about the PS5 is its futuristic design. While it may not appeal to everyone, I found the bold aesthetic captivating. However, I did face some challenges when trying to fit the console into my entertainment setup due to its large size and unique shape. On the positive side, the build quality is exceptional, the console feels incredibly durable and premium and should easily survive till its successor comes.

Performance – When it comes to performance, the PS5 truly shines. Powered by a custom AMD Zen 2 processor and an RDNA 2-based GPU, the console delivers breathtaking graphics and ensures smooth gameplay. The ultra-fast SSD significantly reduces load times, and the support for ray tracing adds stunning visual effects to my gaming experience. I was particularly impressed with the 3D audio technology, which enhanced immersion and provided an immersive audio experience.

Controller – One of the standout features of the PS5 is the DualSense controller. From the moment I held it, I could feel the difference. The improved haptic feedback and adaptive triggers added a new layer of immersion to my gaming sessions. What’s more, the controller’s design is incredibly comfortable and ergonomic, ensuring that even during extended play sessions, I never experienced any discomfort.

Game Library – While the PS5 initially had a limited selection of exclusive titles, I am pleased to see the game library steadily expanding. Games like “Demon’s Souls” and “Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart” truly showcase the capabilities of the console. Moreover, the backward compatibility feature allowed me to enjoy a vast range of PS4 games right from the start, giving me a substantial library to dive into.

User Interface and Features – Navigating the PS5’s user interface is a breeze. The clean and intuitive design made it easy for me to jump into games and access various features. With support for 4K resolution and HDR, the visuals are stunning, truly immersing me in the gaming world. Additionally, features like Share Play, remote play, and PlayStation Plus further enhanced my gaming experience, offering connectivity and multiplayer options.

Availability and Pricing – Unfortunately, one of the major downsides of the PS5 has been its availability. Like many others, I faced frustration due to supply shortages and high demand. Moreover, the initial retail price may be steep for some consumers, especially when considering the additional costs of games and accessories.

Conclusion – As a gaming enthusiast, the console’s powerful hardware, immersive controller, and expanding game library make it a compelling choice. While the design may polarize opinions and availability issues have been a major drawback, those who can overlook these aspects will be treated to a top-of-the-line gaming experience that sets a new standard in the industry.

I love playing this system everyday, it’s so fast the controller haptics make it so much more fun to play games. And PlayStation has too many good games to play 👌🏽

System came as promised, still sealed unfortunately I got impatient with the reservation process and my good friend ended up with this one since I found a system with his help a month earlier but he really enjoys it! If you’re waiting for your reservation be patient! I think it’s kinda crappy that the systems memory is below 1TB but putting a new SSD in is very easy and also Amazon has them at the lowest price I’ve seen with a heat sink (it is important to get a ssd with a heat sink) my package was delivered with lots of care by Amazon and I really appreciate that as well! I have no qualms with this at all paid retail sure stinks I had to get on a list but I’ve been on Sonys since 3 months before release and never have I got my buy offer and also GameStop wants you to have a pro membership now, I didn’t have any this non sense with Amazon which also is another huge plus !

While I didn’t care too much for the game code since the physical game had already been purchased, I was content paying the price Amazon was asking for it. Other retailers rarely ever had stock, & GameStops prices were undesirable. The software has been running smoothly for me, & so far the hardware is holding up perfectly fine. On another note, I really enjoy the PS5 Home Screen music. The dual sense controller has a mic & speaker built in to use to communicate in any active parties. While I haven’t been playing much, PlayStations have always been a family friendly console in my opinion, though this is more dependent on what that means to you. My sibling’s 10 y.o kid plays Ark survival, MLB, 2K, Horizon, Minecraft, Rocket League, & Astro World with their siblings that go as young as four (though for the 4 y.o., I think a Switch would be better for them). My father indulges in GT7, & I’ve played RE2, Village, Ghost of Tsushima, Dying Light 2, Uncharted, Hitman, & a few others. Our age ranges vary & yet we’re all enjoying it.

PS Parties & share play is a great way to somehow spend some time with my sibling’s kids when we can’t see each other. That’s one of many ways to be a cool auntie, haha. But seriously, it’s a good investment. Though I’m a bit bias as we’ve owned all PS consoles, portable gaming systems as well. While I have the Switch, had a game gear, Nintendo, SEGA, GameCube, Gameboy color, gameboy, DS, Advance, Backbone, whatever etc., I’ve always enjoyed my game time most while playing on a PlayStation. I’ve played XBox, but it’s not for me (though it may be for you!).

I do have relatively small hands, so after a while, the controller can cramp my fingers a bit, but I understand the controllers were designed for general use & things like that have always been apart of my experience. The PS5 dual sense controller is heavier than the PS4 DualShock; 15.2 oz compared to 7.4 oz. My PS4 is mounted behind my tv. PS5 is obviously curvier & larger than it’s predecessor. There is a mount to hide this console behind your tv, though I have yet to try it.

Since these are harder to find than a gold nugget, I had to wait a while to get one of these with an invite. I had no issues waiting as I have a perfectly fine PS4, but I knew it was a matter of time before that starts getting phased out with new games and before the PS5 price went up. Even at the normal price, I think this is a bit pricy for a console and the bundle deal isn’t much of a savings at this point, considering you can grab HFW on sale for the same price or less than the bundle deal. But considering the option of waiting longer or getting the available bundle, I decided to get it. Mine was missing the game, but AMZ made it right, fortunately.

To be clear, I think the PS5 is a good machine overall, but I do have a few gripes.

The included HDMI cable is too short, especially for my wall mount TV. They could have given us a couple more feet to make this a bit easier to deal with, instead I used another cable I had.

I really think that the available drive space is really cutting corners on the console. Considering a lot of these games are quite large, it will not take long to fill up the console, especially if you get a lot of the digital versions. Which leads of course to another expense, buying an additional memory card for more storage.

I am not crazy about the included plastic stand. It feels cheap and fitting it to the console in a horizontal position doesn’t really function well. As opposed to being able to screw it in like the vertical position, this just clips into the back. Well, sort of, as it doesn’t really clip well.

I, also, am not crazy about the overall design of the outer casing that is a bit bulky and kind of contrasts with most electronics in terms of looks and style. I would have preferred black like the PS4 and a sleeker design that didn’t need the cheap plastic stand.

I like the new OS interface overall, but they have made some things more complex than they need to be, such as powering off or putting in rest mode. Much simpler on the PS4.

Also, why is it so complicated to find out whether you can do a free upgrade of your PS4 games to PS5. If the game is in your library, it should be easier to find and install, such as sending you a notification of the games that have free upgrades instead of a search for each game, putting in your disk, etc. I just feel that this could have been made easier on the user because if you are like me, I have nearly 200 PS4 games with at least 70 that I still play or have not completed that I would like to get the enhanced graphics for, if they exist and are included as part of the PS4 purchase.

Although I have some complaints about the console, I still think it is a step in the right direction. The OS is slick and better in a lot of ways, minus the things I pointed out above.

The console is fast and installs quicker and games run faster, even PS4 versions. Transferring data from the PS4 is fairly painless and fairly speedy depending on how much you are transferring. I like that you can still use games on your USB hard drive, although that is limited to PS4 only games. I was able to jump back into the first Dying Light game right where I left off within a few minutes, although for some reason, it had to reinstall the Enhanced Edition, even though I already had the Anniversary Edition installed on my external drive.

The controllers are better than the dual shocks and are a nice jump forward in technology with its dualsense technology.

Graphically, the console is great and another leap forward as you would expect with 4K and fantastic graphics with most PS5 games. And Yay!! The console is backwards compatible with my PS4 library.

On the wish list of things I would have liked to seen added would have been an additional USB slot and an additional MS2 memory slot(instead of just one), so you could double your additional onboard storage.

Overall, this is a nice leap forward in gaming consoles. It is a bit pricy, hard to find and needs some additional purchases, such as additional memory to really round out the experience. I just hope that the accessories such as the next gen VR and camera take those leaps as well to round out the gaming experience as well as games that support these new features.
